In honor of Alpha Chi Rho’s National Philanthropy – The National MPS Society, I’ve decided to set a personal challenge goal this summer: cycling 1000 miles between now (June 6) and the end of September (September 30th). I will try to ride 5 to 6 days each week and try to average 15 to 20 miles each ride.

MPS is a progressive, debilitating disease that impacts the lives of numerous children and young adults. Unfortunately, the outlook is grim. Alpha Chi Rho has chosen this fine organization because it became personal. One of my Fraternity Brothers – Jim Yard, has a son with MPS and as we learned more about the disease and how it impacts Jim, his son, and his family, it became readily apparent we needed to support our Brother. Last year was the inaugural year and we raised over $4700 with a Fraternity wide push-up challenge at Convention. It was a start… hopefully, we can do better.

I ask you to consider pledging whatever you can afford to this cause. Any contribution – great or small – is appreciated and will go directly to help the MPS Society serve more people who are afflicted with MPS and its related diseases. Each day, I will post a status report as well as some general information about the MPS Society, the diseases that affect the people they serve, and other relevant information. I will use Map My Ride to provide a very reliable mileage report of each ride that I will share with you each day.
