Elijah is 2 years old and the sweetest little boy. He has 3 siblings (Noah 4, Laiken 3, Luke 2 weeks). He loves spidey, Mickey, and running wild in our backyard.
Elijah had many struggles with reoccurring ear infections, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, respiratory problems, speech delay, and sleep apnea. The beginning of this year we got his referral to ENT. In May they did a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and placed tubes in his ears. After surgery we learned that he failed his hearing test in the OR and had permanent hearing loss. He was then referred to Genetics to hopefully find an explanation for his hearing loss. Upon physical examination and a conversation about everything Elijah deals with they decided to add one more test to his work up. We never imagined the results we’d get would be a diagnosis of Sanfilippo Type C. Our sweet boy is still currently growing and learning things, but we now have a new appreciation for every little thing he can do on his own and for each day we have with him
