Family Support Programs

Are you an active member of the National MPS Society and need assistance from our Family Support Programs?  The Family Support Committee wants you to know that funds are still available this year for the Family Assistance Program, Extraordinary Experiences Program, Medical Travel Assistance Program and Membership Assistance Program.

The Family Assistance Program (FAP) can offer grants for special equipment or medical aids.  Parents of an individual with MPS or related disease or an adult with MPS or related diseases may request up to a maximum of $3,000 per 12-month period, dependent on available funds and the Committee’s decision.

Extraordinary Experience (EE) is a program designed especially for individuals affected with MPS and Related Diseases who are 13 years of age and older. Grants of up to $1000 are available to help individuals have their very own life enriching extraordinary experience.

The Medical Assistance Program (MTAP) can assist families that may need to travel long distances to consult with medical professional who are knowledgeable about MPS and related diseases. This program helps fund out of town travel costs for such non-recurring medical appointments. MTAP may reimburse up to $500 per affected individual per 12 month period in transportation costs for member families traveling to a medical appointment more than 200 miles from their home.

Through the Membership Assistance Program, dues can be waived for families experiencing financial difficulties. Complimentary membership is offered to families who have a recent diagnosis and for adults with MPS.
