MPS Summer Camp at The Painted Turtle, Lake Hughes, CA
August 15-20, 2010

We are please to extend an invitation for your child(ren) with MPS and Related Diseases to attend a summer camp session at The Painted Turtle (http://www.thepaintedturtle.org/turtle/).  While The Painted Turtle is based in California, children from other states are able to attend. 

The Painted Turtle is the sixth addition to Paul Newman’s family of Hole in the Wall Camps for seriously ill children and is located in Lake Hughes, CA.  MPS and ML families are invited to attend the Skeletal Dysplasia camp the week of August 15-20, 2010.  Please note that while the materials are directed to those with Skeletal Dysplasia, children with MPS and ML, do not have to meet the guidelines for Skeletal Dysplasia and height requirements, however children with MPS I, II, III, IV, VI, VII and ML II and III must meet the following criteria

*Ages 7-16 at time of camp session
*Developmental Age of 5 years old or above
*Children with cardiac conditions (e.g. Congestive Heart Failure, poor ejection fraction, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, heart transplant) must be cleared by their heart specialist before attending camp.  

Through educational, therapeutic, safe, and just plain fun summer camp and year-round programs, The Painted Turtle provides a life-changing experience to children whose daily struggles often diminish both their desire to be well and their ability to lead a rich, productive life.
